Los Angeles, February 16: Saturday nightout turned into a terrifying experience for former Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian when two thugs robbed him at knifepoint.
The Aussie singer was mugged at knifepoint while leaving a fast food restaurant in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Guy had just bought a meatball sandwich from the LA fast food corner after a late night recording session on Saturday when two thugs confronted him and demanded money.
Guy's agent Titus Day also confirmed the incident to news.com.au, saying that the singer had been working late in the studio and luckily he had just some cash and his car keys with him when he was confronted by the thugs.
Day said Guy quickly handed over the cash to the robbers. "He threw the money at them to distract them and when they went to get it he ran and jumped in his car and went back to the hotel!," he said.
Malaysian-born Guy has not reported the incident to police because he was unharmed in the incidence.
Guy posted an account of the incident on social networking site Twitter that read: "Oh my gosh, I just got mugged at knifepoint - no kidding! Got a meatball Subway and was met outside by two thugs who wanted cash! $150!"
The Australian soul singer now intends to step into the lucrative U.S. market, and for the purpose he has made the move from Adelaide to Los Angeles.
Guy currently is working on 5th studio album in Los Angeles with the John Mayer band, which he will release in June in America through Sony Music. The album, which will be his first in the United States, will feature songs from his last album ‘The Memphis Album,’ with John Mayer providing back-up vocals on some of the tracks.
"It's my first stab at having a crack at the States, and it's all just falling into place so far," says Guy. "I just have to give it a go. I've had some good training."
Guy and his Australian wife Jules, who will join him this week, plan to ultimately set up a home in New York.
