Wshington, February 12: The multinational computer technology corporation Microsoft has announced that on Feb. 10 it will halt the public downloads of the Windows 7(codenamed Blackcomb and Vienna).

The free trial period of Vista successor ends on Feb. 10 as planned by the company. Those who start the process of downloading before the deadline will be allowed to download the version completely by Feb. 12.

Windows 7 has been embedded with many new and exciting features like multi-touch screen interface support, a modified Windows Shell with a new taskbar, HomeGroup- a home networking system, 20 plus hotkey combinations for easy use, Windows Live Photo Gallery, Mail, Messenger, Movie Maker and many more.

Other new features that the company has integrated in the new version include recognition feature for touch, speech, and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, enhanced boot performance and kernel upgradations.

So, the users who want to check out Windows 7 have only two weeks left to download the trial version.

Brandon LeBlanc, Microsoft's in-house Windows blogger, said in a post, "We are at a point where we have more than enough beta testers and feedback coming in to meet our engineering needs, so we are beginning to plan the end of general availability for Windows 7 Beta."

LeBlanc held that the company will soon post the warning about ending the trail period for downloading the new version Windows 7 on its website.

The company said the final version of Windows 7 will be available officially in late 2009 or early 2010.

However, success of the new version is not very certain due to evident unpopularity of the Vista. This unpopularity has benefited Apple which has already outperformed Microsoft’s computer operating system.

As per market watcher Net Applications, the market value of Windows has declined in recent months and this is affecting the profits of the company.
