California, November 18: Are you frustrated with the glitch in your Macbook trackpad? Apple has come up with a software update to correct your Macbooks’ trackpad malfunction.

Trackpads of MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) and MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) computers had a tendency to not register some physical clicks performed by the user. This had annoyed many of its users.

A number of users had been experiencing a peculiar problem that caused the track pad on their new Macbook to freeze up and stop registering clicks after 50 or so successful pushes. The freeze lasted for 5-10 clicks, after which the button began functioning again.

Steve Jobs, Chief Executive, Apple had assured the frustrated users that the functionality of the new glass trackpads will be fixed through a software update. Keeping his words, Apple has finally released the software update that would address the Macbook trackpad issue.

You can download and install the update from the software update mechanism built into Mac OS X. You can also go for manual download following a two-part process: installing the firmware update [Download - 923KB] application onto your hard drive and using the firmware update application to update your trackpad's firmware.

Introduced in 2006, Macbook replaced the iBook G4 and 12" PowerBook series of notebooks as a part of the Apple Intel transition. According to the sales-research organization NPD Group, the midrange model of the MacBook has been the single best-selling laptop of any brand in U.S. retail stores.

Its thin and solid-aluminum unibody enclosure gives it a stunning look. Cnet’s review on Macbook (13-inch, 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo)’s launch, said, “Billed as a replacement to both the iBook and the 12-inch PowerBook, the 13.3-inch MacBook offers a great compromise between size and portability for a reasonable price (the baseline white model costs $1,099).”

Later, some of the Macbook owners found that the glass trackpad and display hinge in the new aluminum MacBooks were causing problems. Continuous complaints prompted Apple insider to investigate the problematic areas.

The buttonless design of the trackpad was engineered to eliminate the need for the traditional Mac button, while allowing the user to customize click zones. It was unclear initially what part of the design was causing the malfunctions. Though it took a while to ascertain the fault, Apple has finally come up with its enduring solution.
