Lil Wayne Wins Top BET Award, Gives Big Baby News

Hip-hop star Lil Wayne on Saturday (October 18) grabbed the 'Lyricist of the Year' award at the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta, and during the event also revealed other goods news, saying that he's having his first son in just a 'couple of days'.

Besides the 'Lyricist of the Year' title, the rapper also received two more awards including the 'MVP of the Year' and the Alltel Wireless 'People's Champ 'Award at Saturday’s 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

During one of his acceptance speeches, the 26-year-old rapper told the crowd that he's expecting a bundle of joy any day now. "I got a son dropping any day. Pray for me," he said.

Wayne, who had been nominated for 12 awards, already has a 9-year-old daughter named Reginae with his ex-wife Antonia “Toya” Johnson.

Although, Wayne didn't say who the baby's mother is, but it is widely speculated that the mother of the baby is Nivea as there has been a lot of buzz that Wayne and Nivea are back together.

Born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., on September 27, 1979, in New Orleans, LA, Lil Wayne began his industry ascendance as one of the Hot Boys, a short-lived Cash Money Records all-star group, and after establishing himself as a successful solo artist, he grew to become a critical favorite, known especially for his entertaining underground mixtapes.

Lil Wayne married Antonia "Toya" Carter on 14 February 2004 when he was 21. Together they had a daughter named Reginae Carter. He named her after his step father Reginald "Rabbit" Carter. They separated in 2006. Lil Wayne has been romantically linked to Nivea, Trina, and Karrine Steffans.

He drew media attention with leaked picture of himself and Bryan "Baby" Williams kissing which later was explained as a kiss between father-son. Wayne said the kiss was not an intimate one and Williams claimed it was a "black variation" of Mafia affection.

The 2008 BET Awards took place at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center and was hosted by T-Pain instead of scheduled host, comedian Katt Williams. Some of the biggest names in hip hop, who made appearances at the star-studded event, include 50 Cent, Kerry Washington, Keri Hilson, Jim Jones, DerekLuke, Lil Cease, Big Boi, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Jamal Woolard and Wu-Tang Clanmembers GZA, Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck and RZA.
