Shia LaBeouf, who was recently arrested for driving under influence of alcohol, has Michael Bay defending him. The director of movies like “transformers” and “Armageddon” spoke up and defended his darling actor in a recent interview to “Access Hollywood” saying that Shia wasn’t over the legal alcohol limit when he was arrested.
Shia was arrested last Sunday when he collided with another vehicle at 3 am at the junction of La Brea and Fountain. When police attended to the incident Shia was suspected to be showing “outward signs” of intoxication.
The 21 year old actor is a Daytime Emmy Award-winning American actor and comedian. After growing up in California, he became known with a starring role in the Disney Channel series "Even Stevens". He made the transition to film roles with "Holes", a box office success, and has since appeared in several Hollywood films, including "Constantine" and "The Greatest Game Ever Played".
Michael Bay said, “He was not drunk, He was drinking hours and hours before." The veteran director admitted on having a little chat with LaBeouf on the safety of roads shortly before the accident took place.
He quoted, “We had a little heart to heart the week before when he bought a brand new motorcycle. I [said], 'Dude! You cannot ride that motorcycle! If you crash, you put 1,500 people out of work. He responded to Bay that wouldn’t ride his bike but would drive his truck instead.
After the accident took place, paramedics rushed to the scene and the actor was taken to the local hospital. LaBeouf, underwent extensive hand surgery after the accident, though his passenger, "Transformers" co-star Isabel Lucas, was not seriously injured.
LaBeouf is no stranger to the law - in November, he was accused of drunken trespassing after refusing to leave a Chicago, Illinois convenience store at 4am, but the misdemeanor charges were subsequently dropped. Then, in February, he was charged with smoking in a prohibited area in California - to which he pleaded guilty and was forced to pay a $500 fine for the offense.
Despite his injury and the charges, Michael Bay seemed optimistic about the actor's return to the set. He says even two Shia's two fingers are pretty mashed; the team is trying to figure a way to shoot around it. They are planning to incorporate the injury in the story.
Lucky Shia, he has such an accommodating director bailing him out.
