Model Christie Brinkley reached an out-of-court settlement with ex-husband, Peter Cook, after she agreed to pay him $2.1 million, bringing the vicious divorce trial to an abrupt close.

"It's to me a very bittersweet moment because it really is the death of a marriage," Brinkley, 54, said after the announcement of the settlement.

She had been married to Cook for a decade before his affair with a teenage assistant got disclosed and brought the couple’s troubles into the public spotlight in 2006.

The recent testimony exposed a tarnished picture of Cook, who allegedly spent $3,000-a-month on internet porn. He had an affair with 18-year-old Diana Bianchi, whom he paid $300,000 to keep their relation under wraps.

Before the settlement was reached, Brinkley insisted that the details be opened to the public.

Peter Cook was Brinkley’s fourth husband. Although they had signed a prenuptial agreement, the two disputed over child custody and the properties Brinkley had bought in the Hamptons, on Cook’s advice.

It has now been decided that Brinkley will keep 18 properties in the Hamptons, while Cook will be allowed to spend some time with the children.

"It's everything I asked for," Cook, 49, said.

Together, the two have a 10-year-old daughter, Sailor. Cook had adopted Jack, 13, Brinkley’s son with her third husband, Richard Taubman.

The children's attorney, Theresa Mari, said that both parents "worked very hard to do this in the best interest of the children."

Christie Brinkley, the recognized magazine glamour figure of 80’s, was previously married to artist Jean-Francois Allaux and then to Billy Joel.

Four failed marriages down, she seems to have had enough of it. “I’m not going to marry again,” Brinkley told the New York Post. “I know too much about the marriage laws and divorce laws,” she said. “Getting married again would not be a very intelligent thing to do.”
