Christie Brinkley Accuses Hubby Of Spending Money On Porn Sitesby Bithika Khargarhia - July 3, 2008 - 0 comments
Christie Brinkley and her fourth husband, architect Peter Cook, on Wednesday, arrived at court in Central Islip, N.Y. to start their divorce trial. The former supermodel opened the trial by accusing her estranged husband of being a cyber-pervert. In his opening statement in the celebrity divorce trial Wednesday, Brinkley's lawyer, Robert Stephan Cohen called Cook a self-obsessed sex addict and charged him of spending thousands of dollars on Internet porn years before he began wooing a teenage girl. Brinkley, 54, and Cook, 49, wed in 1996, and Brinkley, the mother of three, believed her marriage to Cook was "nearly perfect." But, the former model’s faith on her hubby shattered after she learned about her husband’s extramarital affair with his assistant, Diana Bianchi, then 18. The devastated blonde then filed for divorce from Cook in September of 2006. The couple has a 10-year-old daughter together, Sailor; Cook has also adopted Brinkley’s 13-year-old son, Jack, from her marriage to Richard Taubman. Brinkley has a 22-year-old daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, from her marriage to Billy Joel. After becoming aware of her hubby affair with, Bianchi, now 21-year-old, Brinkley checked his account on computer and discovered he was spending $3,000 a month on pornographic websites, Cohen claimed. "Mr. Cook's double life on the Web not only included being a voyeur but using a Web-cam to broadcast himself masturbating in cyberspace," Cohen said at the start of couple's Long Island divorce trial. "That is the man who's come before this court and asked for custody of his son and daughter," he added. On the other hand, in his opening statement Cook's lawyer Norman Sheresky described his client as an affectionate father who admitted making mistakes. "By the time this case is over, your honor, you will see that Mrs. Brinkley is out for revenge," Sheresky said at the trial. "She is in payback mode, and only your honor can stop it." Besides disputing over the custody of their two kids, the couple is also arguing on some minor property issues. While Brinkley has put in a demand for $158,759 in Cook's bank account and wants full custody of the two younger kids, Cook is seeking $128,935, half of his contribution toward payment of a house at 228 Sagaponack Rd., and is fighting for shared custody. Dressed in a white button-up shirt and a belted khaki skirt greeted the media flocked outside the open court with teary eyes while exiting her car clinging to the arm of her lawyer for support. “I’d hoped with all my heart we could have settled this out of court,” she said of their minor property disputes and a custody battle. |
