Everyone worth his bucks knew it was coming and now it’s finally here! Google has now put forward a brand new software which helps stream everything from photos to videos and music directly from your personal computer onto your idiot box!

It’s true. Says software Engineer David Garcia, "In the old days, we used to watch a simple device called a television. Nowadays, all the stuff worth watching and listening to tends to be stored on or accessed through a computer, to help remedy this, we are pleased to release the Google Media Server."

The named software, easily downloadable from the net, is a free of charge Windows application which effectively transfers media files stored in or streamed onto your PC to your Television set by means of Universal Plug-and-Play gadgets such as the PlayStation 3. Its functions are aligned with the regular Google Desktop applications, which is a desktop search machine dealing with a plethora of software widgets together called the ‘Google Gadgets’.

Thanks to the Google Media Server you can now watch videos, photographs or even listen to music saved onto your PC memory on your TV. But that’s not all. Apart from the material already saved on your comp you can also use the Media Server to directly transmit videos and other material from sharing sites such as Google’s YouTube on to your Television.

The Media Server serves as a smart ploy for Google to effectively tap into the relatively under explored PlayStation 3 crowd. After all streaming YouTube videos into our drawing rooms is something Google has already tried
through third party implements such as Apple TV and even HP’s Media Smart TV. The new device therefore is not a novelty that will grab fetish seekers by the throat. It will simply help Google further itself through various niche markets.
