Kanye booed at concert

Kanye fans at the Manchester, Tennessee Bonnaroo Music and Arts festival lost their cool when made to wait for their favourite rapper for almost 2 hours! The furious mob bombarded the empty stage with their glow sticks and broke out into an irate “Kanye Sucks” chant. The furore got particularly embarrassing when pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph decided to lend music to the commotion.

The heavy-eyed Kanye fans had been eagerly waiting for the hip-hop artist’s performance, scheduled at 2.45 am on Sunday. At around the prescribed time however the audience was informed that the show would be postponed for about 30 minutes. At 3.15 the show was further delayed until 3.30 am. After a long and tiresome wait the audience finally caught a glimpse of the star only at 4.25 am.

Reports say that the schedule setback was caused by Kanye’s elaborate stage set-up, which had taken forever to put up. The intricate set design was in keeping with the singer’s interplanetary themed routine and had a magnificently designed curvy black platform set against interplanetary scenery. At the centre of the set-up was an inclined floor complete with a massive video screen placed right above it.

The hold up was also partly caused by the extended performance of Pearl Jam, who performed before West, said Kan Weinstein, spokesman for the Bonnaroo festival. The Eddie Veder led band had far crossed its allotted time limit and played until 1.15 am, which had sent the festival’s overall schedule tossing, hinted Weinstein.

The Bonnaroo festival, being held at a 700 acre site near Nashville boasts over 150 different acts over a span of four days. Apart from the Kanye mishap the event has not run into any real trouble during its tenure so far. Audience members also admitted that the event had been quite on time until now.

The Kanye West show was anyway expected to be meagrely attended due to its late schedule. Many of the campers who had been witness to the festival right from the wee hours of the morning had chosen to retire for the night and give West’s show a miss. The delay only made a number of others who had planned to stay up leave as well.
