Beyonce, Jay-Z get license to get married

After being famous lovebirds for years, Beyonce Knowles and her longtime rapper boyfriend Jay-Z have finally decided to become husband and wife.

The music couple, who began dating in 2002, successfully obtained a marriage license in Westchester's Scarsdale Village, heading then towards marriageville.

The pair got the license, which is valid for two months, on Tuesday morning, meaning the earliest they could get hitched is Wednesday.

Beyonce, 26, earlier had said that she will not wed Jay-Z for years, but now the singer/actress reportedly is on the verge of getting married. However, the Hollywood power pair has a few days to get married before the license expires.

The news will certainly give immense pleasure to those music lovers who have been waiting for Beyonce and Jay-Z’s marriage for more than five years.

The license means the could has only 60 days to get married or as early as tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, but the tight-lipped duo have not yet released any official statement regarding their wedding plans.

Rep for Jay-Z, 38, could not be reached, while “Dreamgirls” star’s rep responded with “no comment” when asked whether the two were poised to exchange the vows.

The two have been dating for more than five years and have kept the relation away from the media glare. Plenty of marriage rumors have popped up in the past, saying the two have tied the knot. In December of 2006, the pair was rumored to be exchanging the vows at a lavish Caribbean resort, but that tale was abruptly squashed by their reps.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé were fond of each other before they had an "official" relationship. In 1999, Jay-Z directed rapper Amil's "I Got That", a video in which Beyoncé was featured. Destiny's Child was also seen in his "H To The Izzo" video singing some of the rap. There were many appearances like that before 2002.

Beyonce and Jay-Z both have successful careers behind them and they have been listed as a Power Couple on Time Magazine's 100's Most Influential People of 2006. Jay-Z had remarked during a goodbye party for departing Def Jam head Lyor Cohen in 2004 that he and Beyonce will "marry very soon.", and it seems the soon is now.

He is admired for his ability to craft lyrics from memory, without the use of pen and paper.

He returned from retirement in late 2006 with the album Kingdom Come which sold 680,000 copies in its first week, Jay-Z's highest selling album in a one week period.
