Video game maker Activision on Friday announced that it will make the music video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock available for retailers this Sunday (Oct. 28), providing relief to thousands of Guitar Hero enthusiasts who are eagerly waiting for the latest music title.

The Santa Monica, California-based leading designer, publisher, and distributor of interactive entertainment software, Activision confirmed yesterday that GHIII-Legends of Rock, the latest installment in the wildly popular franchise “Guitar Hero”, will be available on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii platforms.

More than 3,000 U.S. retail stores are expected to host their own midnight launch events planned nationwide for this weekend.

The latest installment of GHIII musical video game will come embedded with several new modes, including a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, boss battles, unlockable content, original artists’ recordings, authentic rock venues and an online multiplayer mode that allows global players to compete head-to-head.

Nevesoft is the developer of the game for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii consoles, while RedOctane is the publisher and Activision is the distributor of the Game. RedOctane, the publisher of Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II, was acquired by Activision in May 2006.

For the first time ever, the music video game will feature new wireless guitars, based on Gibson Guitar's Les Paul model for Wii, 360 and PS3, and Kramer models for PS2. In order to give gamers greater feel and rocking experience, Activision has bundled these guitars with removable face plates that allows fans to personalize their guitars and a new button color design that is integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience.

"Where there is music this holiday season, there is Guitar Hero, and we're excited to deliver Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock as the ultimate guitar-bending experience for our fans," said Dusty Welch, head of publishing for Activision/RedOctane.

"With an amazing set list, added gameplay features, online functionality, and new wireless guitars, aspiring rock stars are going to shred harder than ever before."

The title, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is awarded with T ratings (for Teen) by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), the video game industry's self-regulated ratings board.

The musical video game will come embedded with more than 70 songs, including tracks from Guns 'n' Roses, Alice Cooper, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, KISS, Moses, and other well-known rock artists.

Besides the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii platforms, Guitar Hero III will also be available on two more platforms: the PC and Mac.

Aspyr media inc., a company that specializes in bringing the video games on Mac OS platform, announced last month its partnership with video game maker Activision and RedOctane to bring Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock to the PC and Mac platforms.

Aspyr Media reportedly is due to bring Guitar Hero III to PC and Mac on November 12.

Who is the black guy that is

Who is the black guy that is shown in some of the adverts for this game?It looks like Hendrix, but we all know (at least some of us do) that he played the guitar left handed, that is, he strummed with his left hand and fretted with his right hand. The strings he put on backward.
