American Idol’s Paula Abdul breaks nose while saving her dog

American Idol judge and Grammy award winner, Paula Abdul, happened to break her nose and toe muscle when she fell while trying to avoid stepping over her Chihuahua, Tulip on Saturday.

The 44-year old American television personality, while trying to save her dog, bruised herself on various parts of her body but was not hospitalized. She is suffering with a fractured toe and a torn cartilage in her nose. The dog came out unharmed in the minor accident.

"I took a nasty fall trying not to hurt my dog. I bruised myself on my arm, my chest, my waist all the way down to my hip. All from my little chubby Tulip.

"Tulip has no remorse. She just stared at me." She told US entertainment TV show, Extra.

Her publicist David Brokaw broke the news of her unusual injury on Monday. He confirmed her injuries but reassured that she was fine. He even mentioned that she was doing great and it was difficult to make out if she’s had a broken nose.

"She's a little sore, but is doing fine. She is in pain. No question about that. But you'd never know anything happened to her. There are no bandages. She's got some bruises on her arms and on one of her legs”, he said. He concluded saying that even the dog was fine.

In spite of the injury she was seen on the American Idol hot seat as one of the judges among Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. Her publicist has also declared that she’ll be attending the season’s finale show where the fight between the two finalists, Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis will end on Wednesday.

"She tripped to avoid stepping on Tulip, one of her Chihuahuas," the rep said. "She is fine. This will have no effect whatsoever on her appearance on American Idol tomorrow and Wednesday for the finale."

Paula is believed to have quiet a history of injuries and bruises. In April 2006, she filed a report to the police against a fellow partygoer who threw her into a wall at the club leaving her with a back injury.

In January 2006 she claimed to have had an eye infection after she walked out of a press conference near around the American Idol 5th season.

She had been diagnosed with Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), a rare neurological disorder that caused chronic pain, sometime back in April 2005.

In April 2004, she had to get her thumbnail removed to get a fungal infection treated which she picked up from a salon while getting her pedicure done.

The Californian singer and choreographer started her career as a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 1980s. Moving on to a job as an assistant director for the Jacksons landed her in the choreographer’s shoes for Janet Jackson’s album “Control”. Since then she’s choreographed for Television and Films and come out with hit music albums like “Forever your Girl” which also happens to be her debut record. The year 2002 brought her fame as the American Idol judge.

She got married to Emilio Estevez in 1992 but separated in 1994 over issue of children. In 1996 she married sportswear designer Brad Beckerman, they divorced in 1998 citing irreconcilable differences.

Paula was rumored to have a secret affair with an ex-American Idol participant, Corey Clark who claims to have had sex with her.

Simon Cowell has also admitted that he fancies the fellow judge but the two are also known for their heated arguments on the show.
