Report: Crawford going to Red Sox

Boston -- Free-agent outfielder Carl Crawford has agreed to a seven-year deal with the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Globe reported Wednesday.

The report said the contract would be worth $142 million.

Crawford has been in the major leagues for nine seasons, all of that time spent with Tampa Bay. He has been a member of the American League All-Star team four times.

Arguably the best player in the history of the Rays, Crawford batted .307 during the 2010 season with career highs in home runs (19), RBI (90) and runs scored (110). He won a Gold Glove award for the first time in his career and stole 47 bases.

Crawford has a lifetime .296 batting average with 104 home runs and 592 RBI.
