Accused insider trading middleman arrested

Somerset, N.J. -- Federal authorities said they arrested a man in New Jersey Wednesday believed to be the middle man for an insider trading operation.

Authorities arrested Don Ching Trang Chu at his home in Somerset, N.J., the Los Angeles Times reported.

Chu works for Primary Global Research, a firm based in Mountain View, Calif., but the firm was not named in the complaint against him, the Times said.

Allegedly, Chu connected hedge funds with personnel at Broadband Corp., a semi-conductor firm in Irvine, Calif.

He is also accused of serving as the middleman between hedge funds and personnel who had access to confidential information at Atheros Communications Inc., another California company, and Sierra Wireless Inc., a Canadian company.

The arrest is the first in what is believed to be a sizable investigation that included raids on three hedge funds this week.
