Lightning's Lecavalier out for a month

Tampa, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning announced Monday that captain Vincent Lecavalier had surgery for a fracture on his right hand and will be sidelined up to five weeks.

Lecavalier was injured in a 6-3 Lightning loss to the Washington Capitals Thursday.

A team statement said Lecavalier "underwent a successful procedure on his right hand" Monday at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.

"The procedure revealed an unstable fracture in the hand. It was fixated with a plate and screws to properly stabilize the fracture and promote optimal healing," the statement said.

Lecavalier, a 30-year-old center, has three goals and six assists in 14 games this season.
