Halloween costume sparked campus lockdown

College Station, Texas -- Police at Texas A&M University released a report revealing a recent lockdown was caused by a student carrying a replica AK-47 as part of a Halloween costume.

The (Bryan) Eagle said it obtained a police report revealing the man spotted by a bus driver and three students Oct. 28 was a student and U.S. Marine who had been allowed to borrow the plastic gun by a gunnery sergeant.

The campus was locked down for a Code Maroon alert from about 3:30 p.m. until just before 6 p.m.

The police report said officers located the 28-year-old student and no charges were filed. It was unclear whether the man faced disciplinary action from the school.
