Blagojevich pitches for pistachios

Chicago -- A spokesman for embattled former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich said the ex-official appeared in a commercial for pistachios to "pay the mortgage."

Blagojevich spokesman Glenn Selig said the ousted governor appeared in a Wonderful Pistachios commercial, which aired Sunday night during the World Series, because he "needs money to pay the mortgage," the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.

The commercial features Blagojevich receiving a briefcase and opening it to find hundreds of pistachios waiting to pour out.

"Rod Blagojevich does it innocently," an announcer says on the commercial.
