Oregon (8-0) collected 51 of the 59 first-place votes from the panel of voting coaches and is No. 1 for the third consecutive week.
Auburn (9-0) continued its steady move up the rankings. The Tigers were tied for 20th in the pre-season poll and have improved their standing each week. The latest voting has Auburn getting four first-place mentions and moving ahead of Boise State (7-0). Boise was given three first-place votes.
The other first-place vote went to Texas Christian (9-0), which didn't get passed by a lower-ranked team for a change. Pre-season No. 1 Alabama (7-1) has moved to fifth in the poll.
No. 6 Utah (8-0), the lowest-ranked undefeated team, hosts TCU this week. Big Ten foes Wisconsin (7-1) and Ohio State (8-1) are seventh and eighth while Big 12 members Oklahoma (7-1) and Nebraska (7-1) are in the ninth and 10th spots.
Louisiana State (7-1) moved into the No. 11 spot ahead of its game at Alabama and No. 12 Stanford (7-1) has a game with 13th-ranked Arizona (7-1). Missouri (7-1) slipped from sixth to 14th and Michigan State (8-1) dropped from fifth to 15th.
Iowa (6-2), the team that beat Michigan State last week, is at 16th ahead of No. 17 South Carolina (6-2), which next plays No. 19 Arkansas (6-2). Oklahoma State (7-1) climbed two spots to 18th and will face No. 22 Baylor (7-2) Saturday. Virginia Tech (6-2) is 20th.
Mississippi State (7-2) comes in ahead of Baylor and Nevada (7-1) re-entered the Top 25 at 23rd. Florida State (6-2) fell from 15th to 24th and North Carolina State (6-2) is 25th and ranked for the first time this season.
Miami (Fla.) and Michigan fell out of the rankings this week.
