It was also the first time in 32 months the earnings growth rate topped 4 percent, but it was the fifth consecutive month in which wage growth topped 3 percent, as wages have kept up a strong pace in recent months.
In 2009, the 12-month growth rate in wages was under 2 percent for most of the year.
The average weekly wage in Canada is $860.67, the data agency said.
Wages grew in every province in the country, gaining the most in Alberta, 7.5 percent, and the least in New Brunswick, where wage growth was 0.6 percent.
