COL FB: South Carolina 21, Vanderbilt 7

Nashville -- Brian Maddox rushed for the go-ahead score and Stephen Garcia tossed a pair of TD passes Saturday in No. 20 South Carolina's 21-7 win over Vanderbilt.

Maddox's 2-yard rush up the middle with 4:56 left in the third quarter gave South Carolina a 14-7 lead and Garcia connected with Alshon Jeffery on a 72-yard scoring
strike in the final quarter for an insurance score.

Garcia went 31-of-39 passing for 355 yards and an interception for the Gamecocks (5-2, 3-2 SEC), who logged an SEC road victory for the first time in eight away games.

Maddox gained 146 yards on 24 carries and Jeffery grabbed nine passes for 158 yards. Tori Gurley added 13 receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown for South Carolina.

The Commodores (2-5, 1-3) were led by Larry Smith, who connected on 13-of-31 passes for 142 yards.
