Wozniacki was assured of replacing Serena Williams at the top of the rankings after she reached the China Open quarterfinals but continued her winning ways, beating world No. 4 Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Zvonareva had beaten Wozniacki in the semifinals of the U.S. Open last month.
Wozniacki overcame an early break in the first set and cashed in the only break opportunity for either player in the third set. It was her sixth tournament crown of the year and fifth since Wimbledon. She's won 30 of her last 32 matches.
Zvonareva is 16-4 in her last four tournaments, losing in the finals at Montreal -- to Wozniacki -- and in the U.S. Open and Monday at Beijing.
The tournament was to have wrapped up Sunday but heavy rains forced a postponement of both the men's and women's finals. Novak Djokovic won the men's side of the event Monday before Wozniacki and Zvonareva took the court.
