Ironing hostage suspect indicted

Villa Rica, Ga. -- A Georgia man who allegedly held his mom hostage for refusing to iron his clothes has been indicted on aggravated assault and false imprisonment charges.

Robert Edward Tyrrell, 29, of Villa Rica was indicted by a Carroll County grand jury for allegedly using a rifle to hold his mother hostage for 6 hours when she refused to iron his clothes in June, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday.

"He wanted her to do some ironing, and when she said 'no,' they got into an argument," Sgt. Marc Griffith with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said of the start of the incident. "He told her 'ironing is woman's work.'"
