MLB: New York Mets 8, Pittsburgh 7

New York -- Angel Pagan finished off a seven-run fourth with a two-run single Wednesday and the New York Mets took advantage of sloppy fielding to down Pittsburgh 8-7.

Two Pittsburgh errors in the fourth made five of the seven runs in the frame unearned and New York went on to produce a three-game winning streak for the first time in three months.

New York sent 13 men to the plate in its big inning and left the bases loaded.

The Mets were helped out by catcher Chris Snyder's fielding error and another fielding miscue by shortstop Ronny Cedeno.

The Mets overcame a 5-0 deficit with the seven-run inning and Jose Reyes added a solo homer in the sixth.

Raul Valdes (3-3) was credited with the win even though he allowed four runs on four hits with a walk in 1 2/3 relief innings. Starter Jenrry Mejia left the game in the third with a muscle strain in his pitching shoulder.
Hisanori Takahashi allowed a ninth-inning homer to Andrew McCutcheon but still collected his seventh save.

Paul Maholm (7-15) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Pittsburgh has dropped six out of seven and has lost 58 road games -- eight more than any other team in the majors.
