Second seed Jill Craybas of the United States outlasted Aravane Rezai of France 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(3) in a tight 2 hour, 8 minute match.
Third seed Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic advanced Tuesday with a 7-5, 6-3 win over American Varvara Lepchenko. The unseeded Lepchenko made it interesting by winning 14 of 17 service break points and serving five aces.
The only seeded player knocked out of the Quebec City event Tuesday was No. 4 Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic, who lost to Canadian qualifier Valerie Tetreault 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
