Pence given NL Player of Week award

New York -- The Houston Astros' Hunter Pence earned Player of the Week honors in the National League Monday after hitting .500 in the past week.

Pence hit safely in all six games in the week ending Sunday and had multiple hits in five. He drove in nine runs and posted a .909 slugging percentage.

It's the second weekly award for the 27-year-old outfielder.

Other nominees for the award were Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez, Pittsburgh's Neal Walker, Florida's Hanley Ramirez, Washington's Adam Dunn, Atlanta's Jair Jurrjens, the Astros' J.A. Happ, the Chicago Cubs' Carlos Zambrano and San Francisco's Brian Wilson.
