Titian work water-damaged from fire

Venice, Italy -- A work by the 16th century Italian artist Titian sustained water damaged in a fire in a Venetian church, officials said.

Venice Museums director Vittorio Sgarbi said "David and Goliath," displayed in the Basilica della Salute, was discovered soaked after firemen extinguished a fire in an adjacent building Sunday, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Monday.

"Water was running down off the canvas," Sgarbi said.
