Petrova to play in Pilot Pen final

New Haven, Conn. -- Nadia Petrova rallied for a three-set victory Friday in semifinal play of the $600,000 Pilot Pen Tennis tournament in Connecticut.

Petrova, the tournament No. 8 seed, got by unseeded Maria Kirilenko 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in nearly 2 hours in earning her 20th WTA event finals appearance. But this is the first time since 2008 she's qualified for a tournament title match.

She will go against either top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki or No. 4-seeded Elena Dementieva in Saturday's finals. Wozniacki and Dementieva were to play their semifinal later Friday.

Petrova dropped serve twice in the first set but only faced on break-point situation the rest of the way. She won 62 percent of the points over the last two sets.
