The win kept the Rays in a first-place tie with the New York Yankees in the American League East.
Wade Davis (10-9) picked up the win in his first start since Aug. 5, allowing two runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings for his fifth consecutive decision.
John Jaso singled in two runs in a four-run second inning for the Rays.
Ervin Santana (13-9), allowed the first four batters in the second inning to reach base and Tampa Bay put four runs up in the inning. Santana allowed six runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings and had a three-start winning streak snapped.
Hideki Matsui had three hits, including a solo home run for the Angels, who have lost seven of their last nine.
