MLB: Chicago White Sox 7, Baltimore 5

Chicago -- Gordon Beckham's three-run homer helped the Chicago White Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-5 Tuesday and gain some ground in the American League Central race.

The win pulled the Sox to within 3 1/2 games of the division-leading Minnesota Twins, who lost to Texas Tuesday.

Gavin Floyd (9-10) turned in seven solid innings for the win. Floyd allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out six.

The White Sox scored four runs in the seventh inning and one in the eighth and held on for the win despite giving up three runs to the Orioles in the ninth.
Bobby Jenks, the third of three Chicago pitchers to work the ninth, put out the fire and notched his 24th save.

Jeremy Guthrie (7-13) took the loss on six runs and 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings. Felix Pie went 3-for-4 for the Orioles and Luke Scott hit a solo home run in the fourth.
