Massachusetts man eyes wheelie record

Andover, Mass. -- A Massachusetts bicycle rider known locally as the "wheelie man" said he will to try to break the Guinness World Record for longest wheelie in an hour.

Garth Lockhart, 30, of Andover, said he will attempt to ride Sept. 12 from his home to Buchika's Bike Shop in Salem, more than 9 miles, on only one wheel of his bicycle, The Eagle-Tribune, North Andover, Mass., reported Monday.

Lockhart will attempt to beat the record of 8 miles, which was set in January by Aaron Stannage, 14, of England.

"I love doing wheelies, it is a part of me," Lockhart said. "If there was a road around the world, I think I could do it in one wheelie."
