Big second set carries Petkovic in Turkey

Petkovic, seeded sixth, defeated Elena Baltacha 6-4, 6-0. She won 24 of the 29 points needed to decide the second set after a seesaw first set that had a total of five service breaks.

No 3-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova also advanced to Saturday's semifinals in straight sets, taking out Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-2 with six service breaks over nine games.

Elena Vesnina was a 7-5, 6-1 quarterfinals winner over Anastasia Rodionova, winning 61 percent of the points in the match. She dropped only 12 points in the second set.

Jarmila Groth dropped serve once in a 7-5, 6-2 win over Vera Dushevina. She had a pair of breaks in each set.

Pavlyuchenkova will go against Groth in the semifinals in the first career meeting between the two. Petkovic and Vesnina, who meet in the other semi, have split their two previous meetings.
