Lee did not get the win, but his nine innings on the mound included a career-high 13 strikeouts with five hits, no walks and one unearned run.
Neftali Perez (2-2) pitched the 10th and was credited with the win. Michael Wuertz (2-2) took the loss after serving up a slider Cruz launched into the left field seats for his 14th home run this season.
Vladimir Guerrero had a double and drove in a run for Texas in the first inning. The Rangers held a 1-0 lead until the sixth when Kurt Suzuki drove in Oakland's lone run with a single that drove in Coco Crisp. Crisp had singled, stole second and advanced to third on a two-out fielding error by second-baseman Ian Kinsler.
Lee, however, remained in command through the ninth, finishing the game with 88 strikes out of 118 total pitches. He retired the A's in order in the seventh and eighth innings and allowed a two-out to Kevin Kouzmanoff in the ninth.
