Morneau likely to miss MLB All-Star Game

Detroit -- Minnesota first baseman Justin Morneau indicated Saturday he would likely have to miss next week's Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Anaheim.

Morneau was out of the lineup for the third straight day Saturday when the Twins took on the Detroit Tigers. He is suffering from post-concussion symptoms, the result of being hit in the head by a knee while sliding into second base last Wednesday in Toronto.

"If I don't play here (in Detroit on Sunday), I'm not going to go there (Anaheim)," Morneau told reporters prior to Saturday's game.

When Minnesota Manager Ron Gardenhire was asked if Morneau would play Sunday, he said, "I would say no."

Morneau, 29, led the first base fan balloting, thus earning his fourth straight all-star designation.

"It's one of those things where it's not completely gone yet," Morneau said. "It feels like it's getting better. There is no reason to do anything today to make it worse."
