MLB: NY Yankees 6, Arizona 5 (10 inn.)

Phoenix -- Curtis Granderson hit a homer in the top of the tenth Wednesday and the New York Yankees escaped a jam in the bottom of the inning to down Arizona 6-5.

New York tied it in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Alex Rodriguez and then won it on Granderson's leadoff blast in the 10th off Carlos Rosa (0-2). It was Granderson's seventh homer of the year.

Mariano Rivera stayed in for his second inning of work to try to nail down the victory in the 10th, but he gave up a leadoff single to Stephen Drew, a double to Justin Upton and an intentional walk to Miguel Montero that loaded the bases with no one out.

None of the next three batters could get the ball out of the infield. Chris Young fouled out to the catcher, Adam LaRoche popped out to third and Mark Raynolds struck out swinging to end the game.
Rivera improved to 2-0.

The New York comeback spoiled a big night for LaRoche, who drove in five runs.

He had a two-run single in both the first and fourth innings and had another RBI with a ground out in the sixth.
