WORLD CUP: South Korea 2, Nigeria 2 (tie)

Durban, South Africa -- Lee Jung-soo and Park Chu-young had goals Tuesday that gave South Korea a 2-2 tie with Nigeria and an elimination-round berth in the World Cup in South Africa.

Lee scored just before halftime and Park's goal came just after halftime while Nigeria scored first and last in the Group B contest.

But the result was that South Korea (1-1-1) finished second in the group behind Argentina (3-0-0). Greece (1-2-0) lost 2-0 to Argentina Tuesday, ending its chances. Nigeria (0-2-1) got its only point in Tuesday's draw with South Korea.
The South Koreans advance to a knockout-round game Saturday against Uruguay, which finished first in Group A.

Lee erased a 1-goal deficit in the 38th minute with a bit of luck. A free kick from Ki Sung-yueng sailed into the right part of the box. Lee tried to head the ball but didn't get off of it. The ball slipped to his knee, which caused it to bounce past Nigerian goaltender Vincent Enyeama.

Park put South Korea ahead in the 49th minute with a direct free kick that bounced by Enyeama.

Nigeria's Kalu Uche scored the game's first goal just 12 minutes in, converting a pass from Chidi Odiah, who worked down the right sideline. Yakubu Ayegbeni pulled Nigeria into the tie in the 69th minute on a penalty kick.
