Lisette Lee, 28, of Beverly Hills appeared in federal court Tuesday wearing a prison jumpsuit, handcuffs and leg chains, The Columbus Dispatch reported. A bail hearing was postponed until Friday to give her family time to travel from California.
A complaint filed by the Drug Enforcement Administration said agents in Los Angeles passed on a tip to their colleagues in Columbus. They said Lee was making frequent flights to Columbus with an unusual amount of luggage.
Her luggage was searched Monday evening when she arrived at Port Columbus and she was arrested.
Lee allegedly told agents a friend paid her $60,000 to fly in a chartered plane to Ohio and deliver suitcases to a hotel. She said she shared the payment with an assistant and bodyguards who accompanied her.
An assistant U.S. attorney said Lee could receive a sentence of five to 40 years in prison if she is convicted.
Lee's companions were also arrested, the Los Angeles Times said.
