MLB: Houston 4, Kansas City 2

Kansas City, Mo. -- Roy Oswalt cooled off Kansas City with a seven-inning effort Wednesday and the Houston Astros ended a four-game skid with a 4-2 win over the Royals.

The Astros had lost their previous seven games against American League teams.

Oswalt (5-8) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out seven to win his second straight start. The Kansas City bats were quieted one night after the Royals had scored a season-high 15 runs on 20 hits against the Astros.

Brandon Lyon worked the eighth and Matt Lindstrom pitched the ninth for his 15th save. Both Lyon and Lindstrom benefited from a double play.

Kansas City had a 2-1 lead through three innings but Jason Michaels singled in two runs in the fourth and doubled home another in the sixth.

Bruce Chen (3-1) took the loss, giving up three earned runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Chen is with his 10th major league team in a 12-year career and has won more than three games in a season only three times.

Rain delayed the start of the game for almost 2 hours.
