Kanye West to perform at BET Awards show

New York -- Hip-hop star Kanye West is to perform at the BET Awards show in Los Angeles, marking his first major awards-show appearance since the 2009 MTV VMAs.

West was widely criticized for interrupting VMA winner Taylor Swift's acceptance speech to declare that Beyonce should have won the prize.

"While West received much backlash and criticism following the VMAs, BET decided to give the multifaceted performer a spot in music history during its 10-year anniversary special," BET said in a news release Wednesday. "Viewers can anticipate a dynamic comeback performance.
Newly added performances also include Ludacris, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Drake and many more."

Also slated to perform are T.I., Diddy-Dirty Money, Nicki Minaj and Trey Songz.

Queen Latifah is to serve as host of the event, which is to air live June 27 from the Shrine Auditorium.
