Stosur, the tournament's No. 7 seed, topped 22nd-seeded Justine Henin 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 in a fourth-round match Monday. Henin hadn't lost a match at Roland Garros since the second-round of the 2004 French Open. She won the event in 2005-07 and missed the last two years during a retirement.
She looked to extend her 24-match winning streak with a solid first set Monday, facing only one break point in taking the lead. But Stosur quickly answered with a pair of breaks in the second set and cashed in two more service breaks in the third. Stosur had 26 winners while Henin managed just 14.
Williams needed just 67 minutes to dispatch 18th-seeded Shahar Peer in her fourth-round match. She did drop serve twice but more than offset that with six breaks over eight Peer service games. Williams won 57 percent of the points when Peer served and 61 percent overall.
Also Monday, fourth-seeded Jelena Jankovic rolled past No. 23-seeded Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-2. Jankovic had just 11 unforced errors and faced one break-point situation.
Unseeded Yaroslava Shvedova will go against Jankovic in the quarterfinals after her 6-4, 6-3 win over Jarmila Groth. Shvedova had a very impressive seven unforced errors and lost her serve just once in the match.
