Kurt Busch takes $1M All-Star race

Concord, N.C. -- Kurt Busch didn't let a run-in with the wall stop him Saturday, pulling away late to win the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Busch took over the lead with eight laps to go, passing Denny Hamlin after Hamlin caused him to bounce off the wall by blocking younger brother Kyle Busch.

Kurt Busch pulled away on restarts after two more wrecks, easily gaining a lead and cruising to his first win of the all-star race in nine attempts, collecting $1.08 million in the process.

Martin Truex Jr. finished second after transferring into the race thanks to a win in the 40-lap preliminary event. Joey Logano, meanwhile, took third.

Hamlin and defending all-star winner Tony Stewart finished fourth and fifth respectively.

The leader for most of the race was Jimmie Johnson, but he spun on the infield grass after Hamlin bumped him with two laps left, eventually finishing 13th.
