Two Americans in Belgrade semifinals

Belgrade, Serbia -- Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey each claimed three-set victories Friday in semifinal play of the Serbia Open clay-court tennis tournament.

Isner, seeded second this week, rallied for a 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 victory over Richard Gasquet. Isner was down a break early in the third set before finishing off the comeback.

The third-seeded Querrey ousted Igor Andreev 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

The Belgrade crowd lost two local favorites Friday when top-seeded Novak Djokovic fell behind Filip Krajinovic 6-4 but couldn't continue because of illness and Viktor Troicki was defeated by sixth-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka 7-5, 6-7(3-7), 7-6 (8-6). Wawrinka had to fight off two match points before advancing.

Saturday's semifinal schedule calls for Querrey to meet Krajinovic and Isner to battle Wawrinka.
