NBA: Houston 113, Utah 96

Houston -- Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks both scored 28 points Wednesday in leading the Houston Rockets to a 113-96 decision over Utah.

The Rockets, long since out of playoff contention, knocked off a team that came into the game holding down the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference but has yet to clinch home-court advantage in the opening round.

Utah opened the night's action with a half-game advantage over Dallas, Phoenix and Denver.

Luis Scola added 24 points for the Rockets, winners of two straight, and Charles Hayes had 18 rebounds.

Carlos Boozer scored 18 for Utah. Houston produced the final seven points of the second quarter to take a 60-46 halftime lead and the Rockets were not threatened over the final two periods.

Utah turned the ball over 26 times and made just 3-of-15 shots from 3-point range.
