MLB: Cleveland 5, Chicago White Sox 3

Chicago -- Matt LaPorta gave Cleveland the lead with a seventh-inning double Wednesday and the Indians went on to down the Chicago White Sox 5-3.

The Indians won their first game of the season in their second try, five games quicker than they did last year.

Fausto Carmona gave up one hit over six innings to get the win, but he walked six batters and allowed three runs.

Cleveland came back from a 3-0 deficit with a three-run fourth, getting an RBI single from Michael Brantley and a two-run base hit by Grady Sizemore.

LaPorta then put the Indians in front with his two-out double in the seventh that brought home Shin-Soo Choo from second. The run was charged to losing pitcher Randy Williams.

Choo scored again in the ninth on a fielder's-choice grounder by Andy Marte. Chris Perez, who has taken over the closer role in place of the injured Kerry Wood, earned his first save by working around a walk in the ninth.
