Duke, Michigan State head for Final Four

Houston -- With victories Sunday by No. 1 Duke in the South Region and Michigan State in the Midwest, the field is set for the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four.

The Blue Devils beat Baylor 78-71 in Houston in their first Elite Eight appearance since 2004 and will head to the Final Four in Indianapolis looking for their first national championship since 2001. In the April 3 semifinals, Duke will meet West Virginia, the No. 2 seed in the East, which won the regional title Satruday with a 73-66 win over Kentucky.

Nolan Smith and Jon Scheyer combined for 49 points Sunday to lead Duke to the South Region crown.

Michigan State, seeded fifth in the Midwest Region, advances to a Final Four contest against Butler. The Spartans beat Tennessee 70-69 Sunday when Raymar Morgan sank a free throw with 1.8 seconds remaining.

Michigan State will be playing it its second straight Final Four, taking on Butler -- also a fifth-seed -- in the Bulldogs' first appearance ever in the tournament semifinals.

Butler captured the West Regional title Saturday with a 63-56 win over Kansas State -- running its winning streak to 24, the longest current winning streak in the nation.
