Representative nixes Rock love child rumor

New York -- A representative for Chris Rock says a young girl spotted with the U.S. comedian's family in New York was not a child fathered out of wedlock.

The representative, whose identity was not released, denied tabloid reports suggesting Rock, 45, may have fathered the young girl outside his marriage to his wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, People.com reported Friday.

The girl, whose age and identity were not released, was seen with Rock, Compton-Rock and the couple's 5-year-old daughter, Zahra, on Monday.

"The child in the photograph with Chris Rock that appeared in the New York Post is the daughter of a family friend from South Africa whom (his wife) Malaak Compton-Rock met through her charity endeavors over the years. She visits often and when here is a joy to the Rock family," the representative said.

People magazine said Rock, whose film credits include "Bad Company" and "I Think I Love My Wife," and his wife also have a 7-year-old daughter, Lola.
