NBA: Boston 94, Houston 87

Houston -- Paul Pierce scored 15 points in the fourth period Friday and Boston won its third straight with a 94-87 decision over Houston.

Pierce delivered 26 points overall, making 9-of-14 from the field and helping Boston remain in a tie with Atlanta for third place in the Eastern Conference.

Ray Allen added 19 and Kevin Garnett had 15. Boston limited Houston to 39 percent shooting.

Houston had won its four previous games, its longest victory streak of the season. The Rockets were led by Luis Scola and Kevin Martin, both with 17 points.

Houston went into the contest trailing Portland by five games in the battle for the final Western Conference playoff spot.
