United offers door-to-door luggage

Chicago -- United Airlines said it would lighten its passengers' load with an offer to ship baggage door-to-door between March 18 and March 29.

Passengers would be allowed up to nine bags -- including skies or golf clubs -- that FedEx would deliver overnight for $25, The Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

The carrier's senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing Jeff Foland said, "with United's overnight Door-to-Door Baggage shipment and delivery service, customers have another great opportunity to travel with added convenience and flexibility."

The service has weight, size and other restrictions, but also the convenience of allowing passengers to travel light, while having luggage shipped from their home or office or to a nearby FedEx shipping center.
