Phil Kessel, John Mitchell, Mikhail Grabovski and Rickard Wallin each found the net for Toronto.
Gustavsson was sturdy in goal during the first period, stopping nine Ottawa shots as Kessel and Mitchell notched early markers to give Toronto all the offense it would need.
Andy Sutton got the lone goal for the Senators and Brian Elliott made saves on 26-of-29 shots in the loss, Ottawa's sixth in eight games. The Senators remained three points behind Buffalo in the Northeast Division as the Sabres lost 4-3 to the Thrashers Tuesday.
