Hantuchova reaches semis in Mexico

Monterrey -- Daniela Hantuchova shook off a slow start Friday to defeat Vania King and earn a berth in the semifinals of the Monterrey Open.

Hantuchova, the No. 2 seed, ousted King 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. King had been trying to reach the semifinals of a WTA event for the first time in four years. Her only victory came in 2006 at the Bangkok Open.

Dominika Cibulkova set up a semifinal meeting with Hantuchova by defeating Agnes Szavay 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova also reached the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Klara Zakopalova.

Pavlyuchenkova will meet either Anastasija Sevastova or Alize Cornet in the semifinals.
