At a news conference, Finance Minister Dwight Duncan and Economic Development Minister Sandra Pupatello said the investment would create and retain up to 757 new jobs over five years, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
Ford had already announced an investment of $590-million for the plant and a research center that will study diesel and advanced powertrain technologies, the Globe and Mail reported.
The plant was closed in November 2007, putting 900 people out of work, but reopened in March 2008 after Ford put $168 million into retooling the plant along with an $80 million infusion of federal money, the CBC said.
The facility will produce engines for the 2011 Mustang GT, the company said.
